This photo was taken recently by Favor of God at Gulu,
Uganda. The houses in the background are the very homes that we were involved in helping build earlier this year. One of the homes is now completed and the boys have moved in. I believe the girls will move in once the indoor plumbing and electricity has been completed. In the meantime, the boys have begun tilling the soil, ready to plant a variety of crops to support themselves. Some of these older boys were also able to help with the building of the homes as well. It is wonderful to see this progress being made, and the growing opportunities now for these boys to work and produce. Visit Favor to read their article

What a large area to plant in. I'm an avid gardener and curious- do you know what they plan to grow?
That's going to be a huge garden! I would love to see it in different growth stages, and what they'll be growing.

Hi Jenny and Denise :)
It is a large area - especially when it is all worked by hand. I believe some of the things they are growing here are onions, beans and sweet potatoes. Corn and maize are also common crops. These boys also help is the animals - cow, pigs and chickens I believe they have, and yhey also hope to be making a fish pond in the future to raise their own fish. Big plans and big work - but very worthwhile.
