An Introduction to the Language of Shakespeare
I have avoided Shakespeare to date for 2 reasons. The first being that I was intimidated by the language - quite honestly I felt alot less intelligent than I thought I was when I came into contact with anything Shakespearean. The second being that when my children were younger, I found the story lines rather questionable, and wasn't sure that it was worth our time to study.
Now that our world is opening up with older children beginning to broaden their horizons, I find many Shakespearean references in the strangest places, so I feel it is time to at least introduce myself to Mr William Shakespeare. And of course, when one gets older our brains needs purposeful exercise - so in spite of the threat to my perceived intelligence, Shakespeare is as good as anything to use as cognitive exercise.
Thanks to Catherine at Serenades and Solace, for the introduction to this little clip above - The Three Little Pigs by John Branyan. Please excuse the bad habit demonstrated at the end - but I think it works in the context.

I'm glad you liked it. It is a shame about that bad habit he employs .. it would have been better if he just chewed gum there.
I emailed this to my aunt who's a Senior High School english teacher. It'll be used to introduce Shakespeare at her school.

This is excellent indeed! There are a lot of Shakespeare blog posts circling at the moment, it's great! We are slowly being introduced to William this year.
Thanks Catherine! Mel x
