Welcome

Somewhere it is written that, "A mother is only a woman, but she needs the love of Jacob, the wisdom of Moses, the foresight of Joseph, and the firmness of Daniel".   Karen Andreola

I think I would add to that the patience of Job!  There are some who claim that being a home maker, wife and mother is a job which requires very little brain power and creativity.  Some go so far as to state that housewives are no better than economic leeches, that they have no value because they are not involved in paid work and contributing to the modern economy monetarily.  This is a very narrow view of human worth, and demonstrates an incomplete understanding of the nature of work, true work.  On the contrary, I have found that being a woman in these fields requires more intelligence, more creativity, more willpower, more vision, more perseverence and more emotional strength than any other paid job/career that I have known.   Home and Family are important.  Housework is important and valuable work.  A woman has great value simply as a woman.  God created woman to be a woman.  Not some non-specific gender worker.  If you are a woman, you can be proud that God created you to be who you are.  You can be proud of the work you do at home.  Work that benefits your family, and the broader community.
Our home here at Marigold Cottage currently houses 6 chickens, 2 cockatiels, 1 budgie, a fruit orchard, a kitchen garden, 3 children, a father and mother and a grandfather and grandmother.  Not to mention boats, books, trees, wildlife, friends and other specialties that are important for our life together as a family within our community.

Together we are building a home life, working and learning alongside eachother, simply enjoying being at home together.  I have learned to take pleasure in housework well done, and make it a natural part of the rythm of my days.  I have learned to enjoy the company of my children as we work together and live life together.  I have learned what it means to be a companion to my husband.  The nature of homeschooling has given us the gift of being together and being at home.   It has given us the opportunity to take the lessons offered us by walking this path of homeschooling to enrich our homelife in very deliberate ways that we would not otherwise have time and energy for.

Welcome to Marigold Cottage.
I hope you enjoy your visit here, and that you take away some ideas that will encourage you in your own home and family life.
